The Beach Front – 10 Gallon Plant Tank

The Beach Front – 10 Gallon Plant Tank

My first aquarium build back into the hobby was this 10 gallon build. I wanted to create a feeling of a beach off an “island” of a jungle. I think it came out pretty damn good.

VIDEO ONE
The first video is the set up of the tank.  Going over the equipment I’ve used, the construction of the tank as well as the aquascaping setup:

Equipment used:

Plants used:

  • Java Moss
  • Java Fern
  • Amazon Sword compacta
  • Tiger Lotus
  • Dwarf sagitaria
  • Cryptocoryne wendtii
  • Rotalia indica

I did put in Zebra Danios to cycle the tank but I don’t do fish cycles anymore just because it’s not a cool thing to do now a days.  It was a habit from my old days of fish keeping.

Livestock after cycle:

  • Amano Shrimp
  • Pygmy corydoras

VIDEO TWO
The next video was an update of the tank after one week after the cycle. I’ve moved some stuff around, added more plants (Blyxia Japonica) and then added more fish (Panda Cory’s and Glow Light Tetras).

I’ve also added the Fluval 20g Co2 system. It’s a simple passive system that works pretty well over the week after.
